Situated just a short walk from Khreshchatyk, O’Brien’s Irish pub offers familiar territory for English speaking tourists visiting Kiev.
Expats and foreigners will find a good selection of imported beers. Ales on tap include Kilkenny, Murphy’s, Harp, Magners, Budweiser, and Carlsberg.
Food is traditional Ukrainian/Irish/British pub fayre. Choices include Dublin Breakfast, Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, and Irish Stew. Prices are a little higher than a local pub, but very reasonable for those on a western budget.
For a cheap meal try the business lunch, served from midday to 3 pm. Soups, salads, and meat dishes are offered at bargain prices.
English language menus are available. Staff are helpful and speak fairly good English.
There’s live music most Friday and Saturday evenings. The band usually takes to the stage around 9.30 pm. Check the official O’Brien’s Facebook page (see information box below) for details of what’s on.
There’s a big screen TV showing live English Premier League and Champions League football matches. It’s a good idea to reserve a table for the most popular games.
