Despite the name, the trek to this centrally located Indian restaurant isn’t long and arduous. The Himalaya is situated on Kiev’s main street, Khreschatyk, and offers good service and great value business lunches.

Not the best Indian food in the world, but HEY, THIS is KIEV! If you want something with spice and a different flavor then you have to stop in here every so often. It's not pretentious and the girls are not rude, just quiet and shy. Good place to chill. I recommend for hangovers!

The staff members are rude and the food is really bad. This place is for tourists who have never tasted Indian food.

I go to Himalaya at least once a week either for lunch or at night and though not as spicy as a British curry, if such a thing exists, I have always found it excellent. In fact with each visit the food gets better and better. All you have to do is ask how you like it to be done. The staff and service are both friendly and excellent.

I HAVE VISITED THE HIMALAYA SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY UKRAINIAN PARTNER. THE DECOR SEEMS TO GET BETTER EVERY TIME WE VISIT. THE FOOD ON THE OTHER HAND UNFORTUNATELY DOES NOT & IS NOT A PATCH ON BRITISH CURRIES, AS I COME FROM THE CAPITOL OF BRITISH CURRIES, BRADFORD.
THE LAST TIME WE VISITED I ORDERED A DISH & MY LADY ANOTHER. ON ARRIVAL OF THE FOOD THEY BOTH LOOKED SIMILAR, HAD SIMILAR TASTE & WERE ADEQUATE. I COULD HAVE ARGUED BUT COULD NOT BE BOTHERED AS WE WERE VERY HUNGRY AND MY LADY ENJOYED HERS.
I THINK THAT THEY COULD GET AWAY WITH THE FOOD AS UKRAINIANS ARE NOT USED TO CURRY!!
I WOULD ADVISE THEM TO GET THE FOOD UP TO STANDARD, AS MANY BRITS & OTHER EUROPEANS HAVE HAD CURRY HOUSES FOR YEARS & EXPECT A HIGHER STANDARD OF CUISINE.
APART FROM THAT I HAVE NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH HIMALAYA, EXCEPT THE TOILETS COULD DO WITH BEING KEPT AN EYE ON!

Hi All
I visited first time from 21 september 2008 to 6 october 2008. I am really glad that during the visit to city centre i could discover this restaurant which gives you a feel of indian culture and food.
I order chicken saagwala with garlic naan and masala tea. I really dont know if i ever had this taste of food in an india based restaurant.
Hats off to the owner.
Will definitely visit this again during my stay.

Service is always a bit off (or more then a bit off) at any place you go to in the Ukraine. That said I've never had a bad experience in Himalaya for the last fours years I have been going there. Himalaya has been operating at that location for quite some time. I'm surprised they haven't been pushed out by something flashier like most of the old expat staples. I’ve always enjoyed the food there, just be careful about taking locals there, spicy food isn’t one of their forte. And the view is very nice.

Had a meal here and was quite impressed. Service was good and the vindallo was hot and to my taste. Ask for a window seat and you'll get a good view of Khreschatyk.

VISITED KIEV FOR THE FIRST TIME AND TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO HIMALAYA. BUT SORRY TO SAY THAT, THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF VERY LOW AND POOR STAFF MANAGEMENT. I'VE NEVER SEEN IN MY 45 YEAR LIFE, NOT EVEN IN INDIA, HEAD OF STAFF TALKING TO CLIENTS SO DISRESPECTFULLY AND USING BAD LANGUAGE! THAT WAS SHOCKING NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT FOR MY FRIENDS TOO. I AM ASHAMED OF THIS INDIAN MANAGER!
