Opera Hotel

The Opera Hotel opened in December 2006 and is a much-needed addition to Kiev’s hotel inventory. This 5-star boutique hotel offers 138 guest rooms, individually furnished and equipped with wireless internet access.

The hotel’s restaurant, La Scala, specialises in Italian and Ukrainian cuisine while Bellini’s Bar offers a good range of cocktails and cigars. Other facilities at the hotel include a business lounge, spa and fitness centre and several conference rooms.

The hotel is situated on Khmelnytskoho, around 1 km from Khreschatyk.

Not a bad little place to stay, at least they seemed to be trying. The room was clean and comfortable and the Wi-Fi was a welcome addition. Service was a little on the slow side, but you did usually get what you ordered. Anyway, it was fairly good value and I was told that if you book a package it works out even cheaper. Something to try next time.

Wouldn't get a 5 star rating in the West, but there was nothing major to complain about.

Mixed feelings about this place. Got picked up from the airport which was nice and the hotel was ok, although my room wasn't ready when I arrived and I had to hang about for half an hour. When I did get inside it was reasonably clean and comfortable, but had a strange smell. This, however, was counterbalanced by the free Wi-Fi. Not a bad place overall.
