The Burger is one of several gourmet burger spots to open in Kiev in recent years. It enjoys at enviable location at Arena City, one of the city’s most exclusive entertainment and shopping complexes.
Unsurprisingly the menu is dominated by speciality burgers. All food is organic and freshly prepared in an open kitchen.
I opted for a New York burger, a double burger topped with Cheddar cheese, salad, and BBQ sauce. My dining companion, keen to keep her immaculate body in shape, was advised to select Indiana, a turkey burger topped with Dorblu cheese and caramelized apples.
Both burgers were excellent and came with fries, salad, and unlimited Pepsi. The burgers were substantial and filling, but the portions of fries and salad were on the small side. Personally, I’m no fan of the steel plates and buckets used for service.
Despite visiting on a Friday afternoon in the middle of an extremely cold January, the restaurant was extremely busy.
Our waiter was extremely helpful, finding us a great table right next to the open kitchen where we could watch our lunch being prepared. He spoke perfect English and explained in great detail how the kitchen worked and the menu options available. We had to remind him to bring our complimentary Pepsi, but all other aspects of his service were excellent.
The total bill came to 312 UAH, very reasonable considering its prime location. We received a 20 percent discount which I only just noticed when writing this review. Presumably it was some sort of midweek lunchtime offer.
The Burger is located on the southern side of Arena City and can be accessed from the street or Arena City’s central plaza. The closest Metro stations are Palats Sportu and Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho. Both are within easy walking distance. Places of interest nearby include Besarabsky Market and the Pinchuk Art Centre.
