We were going to the National Opera House of Ukraine for a ballet performance in the evening so decided to eat nearby. 7 Fridays is just across the road and seemed a good choice for a pre-opera meal.
I’d eaten here many times previously. Four years ago I lived in an apartment just round the corner and frequently went there for lunch. It was cheap and their bread excellent (rare in Ukraine).
We arrived about an hour before the performance was due to begin. It wasn’t busy like I remembered it. There was only one table occupied.
We took a table in the far corner and an English menu was provided. Options were fairly limited with only around ten mains to choose from.
I opted for the steak fillet wrapped in bacon at 240 UAH with a side of grilled vegetables with herbs for 75 UAH. My diet-conscious companion went for a green salad at 75 UAH and also took the grilled vegetables. To drink we both had ginger tea for 40 UAH each. The total bill came to 545 UAH.
The food was fine and the tea refreshing. My only criticism was that service was a little on the slow side. We were in a rush to get to the performance and made the waitress aware of this. I’m not sure why the meal took over 30 minutes to arrive when the restaurant was almost empty.
7 Fridays is situated on Bohdana Khmelnytskogo Street, directly opposite the Eleven Mirrors hotel and about 100 yards from the National Opera House of Ukraine. The closest Metro stations are Universytet, Teatralna, and Zoloti Vorota.
Visit Kiev Ukraine dined at 7 Fridays in January 2017. Unlike most other Kiev travel websites we pay for our own meals. We do not inform staff we are reviewing their restaurant.
